Can education end terrorism?



Terrorism is threatened use of violence to intimidate a population for political, religious or ideological goals.
But these terrorist don't have any political agenda. They are nothing more than misguided ruckus who are afraid of equality. They have superiority complex and wants hierarchy. They love anarchy and are psychopath who enjoys giving pain and killing people.

Some of us may think that 'terrorist for a nation can be a nationalist for another.' This only accesses the validity of terrorism. Those who abuse, tortures or kill people, violates human right and hampers development are nothing but a bunch of goons.

Today, terrorism, has became a business. Terrorists have became strategic partner to get political power and are looked upon as political mean to settle the score by nations. They have been provided by arms, ammunition, fund and extremist philosophy making them a part of proxy war.

Thus, in short, terrorism cannot be curbed in short period of time unless and until everyone achieve some improvement in their psychology. Majority of human beings are self-centric, materialistic and want more power by any mean and this reflects in nation's political, economical and social objective.
If no appropriate action is taken, this will finish humanity and thus the end of our existence.

Terrorism is because of shortcoming of human nature. Terrorist are intolerant to divergent views. To counter it, education is the only way.




Education is the liberating force which helps individual to break shackles of prejudice, parochialism and its scope encompasses all the social, political, economical and cultural aspects of human life. It act as a cohesive force which helps in integration and develops self-critical awareness in individual which is needed for continuous refinement of thought and action.


Ironically, most of the mastermind behind all the terror attack are so called learned and educated people and this raises a serious concern on efficiency of educational system to mold an individual. As far as reforms in educational system is concerned with respect to making it more effective force for building nation's character, emphasis should be given on explaining the benefits of following ethical values so that gap between what is said and what is done in practical life can be minimised.

Education should not be confined to getting degree. It is continuous, uninterrupted process which can be achieved through all forms of media, family and friends.

Basic education should be viewed more seriously particularly of age group 5-15 years where human mind is adaptive and sensitive. This is the age where we can inculcate high moral values. Therefore teachers for this age should be good counsellor, polite and loving. A clear message should be imparted that enjoying work, embracing failure and pain is far more important than materialistic success, that happiness lies in simple living.

At last, education cannot be a panacea which can completely enlighten an individual and curb terrorism. It is nevertheless a strong guiding force which inspires an individual to lead a life with moral and ethical principle.
